Version 3.1
Version 3.1 adds OS 8.5 compatibility including compatibility with the Appearance Manager. Program response is somewhat faster.
Version 3.0.1
Version 3.0.1 is a minor bug-fix upgrade. This fixes a general problem with registering the software.
Version 3.0 (and 2.9.9)
Version 3.0 is a major upgrade to CyberMozart and therefore no updaters will be provided for earlier versions (except perhaps 2.9.9).
Files:
- CyberMozart can now save and open its own "Notation" files. This is handled by way of the "File" menu. Note that exporting standard MIDI files (type 1 and type 0) is still available by way of the MIDI menu.
Menus:
- New "File" menu
- New Iternet menu
- Options to change patches on either channel to the MIDI menu.
- Added "Decrement patch numbers by one" to MIDI menu.
Interface:
- Cosmetic changes to windows and colors
- Added "Hide Finder" option to preferences
- New About box
- Windows no longer forget original positions
- Zoom window and resizeWindow in scrolling notation window now constrained to height of staff
- Zoom window and resizeWindow in page view now constrained to size of page
Miscellaneous:
- Incorporates new registration scheme, ie, Kagi (registration form printout options removed)
- Changed "Registration form" options to "Online Registration"
- Updated texts where appropriate
- Checks for locked media on launch and refuses to run
- Drag-and-Drop supported for MIDI Files created by the program
- Enhanced OS8 support
Version 2.7.5
- Many bug fixes (this version actually underwent a rigorous "beta-test" cycle: ran over 400 times in sixty configurations on three different computers)
- Added Edit menu.
- Added startUp message.
- Activated Save text file option in Registration form window.
- This version should run a little faster.
- See also: changes in version 2.5 and 2.2 (most people will be coming from 2.1)
Version 2.5
- It should now be possible for future versions to run an Updater without registered users losing their registration and having to request a new registration number (this is because the serial number no longer changes when an update is applied). This one tiny courtesy to registered users required some pretty intense changes so those changes may have introduced additional bugs.
- Preferences are now saved to a "CyberMozart Prefs" file in the Preferences folder in the SystemFolder. This was added because internal preferences (set with the "Preferences" dialog) were also not remembered between updates.
- Trimmed most of the extraneous code so this version is even smaller than it would have been (although it is the largest yet).
Version 2.2
- Added "Preferences" Dialog and menu item... and items to prefer or not prefer ;-) including "Auto-play after compose", "SMF
- Save warnings", "Default MIDI File save type", "Display About Box on launch"
- Added menu item "MIDI Setup..." under "MIDI" menu for people without MIDI Manager. (use without MIDI Manager has not been tested very much)
- Launching without MIDI Manager will now bring up "Choose Port Dialog" for built-in MIDI driver... There may be some problems sending MIDI data to the printer port on some machines (use the modem port or if you must use the printer port, then use MIDI Manager)
- Switched to version 3.0.1 of HyperMIDI which should solve memory problems on PowerBooks and a few other Mac models.
- Improved launching by double-clicking a CyberMozart MIDI File in the Finder (via AppleEvents).
- Important note: This was a limited edition only available for three days from my homePage. I'm not supporting this one with updaters (although I uploaded an updater to AOL and have tried to cancel it). All the features of this version are found in version 2.5.
Version 2.1
- Wow! What a lot of bug fixes:
- Fixed About box appearing underneath floating palettes on smaller screens
- Fixed error messages after MIDI File export (Bug only happended on PowerBook 540c and Centris)
- Removed close boxes of some windows that would confuse the program if those windows were closed
- Made launch behavior consistent regardless of whether it is the initial lauch or a subsequent launch
- Allow graceful canceling out of Print dialogs
- Fixed most crashes that might have occured when using the "Export MIDI File" and "Play MIDI File" before anything has been composed with the program (ie. you launch the program and immediately select "Play MIDI File")
- ...any many more bugs fixed!
Version 2.0.4
- Hopefully fixed: bug where on some machines (mainly 68030) program might quit unexpectedly on the first launch only due to the one-time auto-serialization process.
Version 2.0.3
- Hopefully, CyberMozart can get by with 4 megs of RAM now.
- Fixed case if main window became inadvertantly closed.
Version 2.0.2
- Now requires 5 megs of RAM.
- Added Shareware Reminder window
Version 2.0
- Now requires 4 megs of RAM.
- Standard MIDI files now save tempo and time signature information.
- Drag and drop and finder file launching now work sometimes: When you drag an SMF created by CyberMozart onto CyberMozart or double-click the SMF to launch CyberMozart, CyberMozart should open and play the SMF immediately. Sometimes this doesn't work. However, in most cases, you can drag and drop or double-click one of CyberMozart's files in the Finder after CyberMozart has already booted to initiate playback of that file.
Version 1.9
- New (internal) way of doing tempos.
- Repaired MIDI file output so that note-Ons on first track now have note-Offs as they should.
Version 1.8
- New About Box (check it out).
Version 1.7
- New icons, new color interface, new Palette buttons
Version 1.6
- Updated to use the HyperMIDI 3.0 XCMD.
- Now supports type 1 MIDI files with choice to save type 1 or type 0 MIDI files.
- Real-time patch changes supported via "Playback Options" menu item.
- Theoretically, CyberMozart should now work without MIDI Manager installed.
- MIDI playback is a bit smoother although there are still some synchronization anomalies when used in conjunction with the MidiQT extension.
Version 1.5
- Re-organized menus adding "MIDI" menu.
- Re-wrote 90% of all scripts for speed and to accomodate early beta of HyperMIDI 3.0.
- Added "Play MIDI File.." menu item to spot-check saved MIDI files.
- Added "All Notes Off" menu item
Version 1.4
- Real-time tempo changing added to "Playback Options"
Version 1.3
- Real-time transposition added to "Playback Options"
- Added option to save type 0 MIDI files.
Version 1.2
- "Playback Options" menu item and dialog added to permit real-time volume control and non-real-time patch changes.
Version 1.1
- Added "Set Playback Tempo" menu option
- Added "Adjust Scroll View Sync..." menu option
- Added "Page View" and printing options
- "About Box" added by Mark Hagers (markch@xs4all.nl)
Version 1.0
- Created by Christopher Yavelow with cool graphic import mechanism and MIDI parsing script by Bernard LaVie (raresoft@aol.com)
