Version 2.1a
Replace graphic in About Box..
Version 2.1
Version 2.1 adds OS 8.5 compatibility including compatibility with the Appearance Manager.
Version 2.0.1
Version 2.0.1 is a minor bug-fix upgrade. This fixes a general problem with registering the software and also fixes a bug that caused a crash when opening the Options window.
Version 2.0 (and 1.9.9)
Version 2.0 is a major upgrade to PushBtnBach and therefore no updaters will be provided for earlier versions (except, perhaps version 1.9.9).
Algorithms:
- Sped up music generation significantly
- Updated all YME algorithms to those in use with our YME product "The Music is the Message"
- Corrected algorithms that occasionally caused PBB to get out of sync in right and left hands
- Added a random transposition on playback( eventually this will be setable preference)
Menus:
- New "File" menu
- New Iternet menu
- Added "Decrement patch numbers by one" to MIDI menu.
- New "Continuous" menu option keeps composing and playing automatically until you uncheck it (tip, use the patch menu to experiment with different sounds while you do this).
Interface:
- Cosmetic changes to windows and colors
- Added "Hide Finder" option to preferences
- New About box
Miscellaneous:
- Incorporates new registration scheme, ie, Kagi (registration form printout options removed)
- Changed "Registration form" options to "Online Registration"
- Updated texts where appropriate
- Checks for locked media on launch and refuses to run
- Drag-and-Drop supported for MIDI Files created by the program
- Enhanced OS8 support
Version 1.5.1
- Version 1.5 was inadvertently uploaded to various libraries AFTER having been serialized (I think my cat did it by jumping on my PowerBook trackpad when I had left the room with the newly built application still selected on the desktop -- that would have serialized it -- then on her way down, she hit the return key which quits after the serialization process)... Otherwise, I must have screwed up somehow. I caught it before it became available on AOL, Compuserve, AMUG, and ftp.Allegiant.com. BUT it was available from my homePage for a few hours. If you happened to have downloaded it you'll know it so please send me email in that case and I'll fix your copy.
Version 1.5
- It should now be possible for future versions to run an Updater without registered users losing their registration and having to request a new registration number (this is because the serial number no longer changes when an update is applied). This one tiny courtesy to registered users required some pretty intense changes so those changes may have introduced additional bugs.
- Preferences are now saved to a "PushBtnBach Prefs" file in the Preferences folder in the SystemFolder. This was added because internal preferences (set with the "Preferences" dialog) were also not remembered between updates.
- Trimmed most of the extraneous code so this version is even smaller than it would have been.
- Added Edit menu.
- Added startUp message.
- Activated Save text file option in Registration form window.
Version 1.4
- Added menu item "MIDI Setup..." under "MIDI" menu for people without MIDI Manager (not using MIDI Manager has not been tested much)
- Add "Display About Box on launch" option to "Preferences" dialog
- Launching without MIDI Manager will now bring up "Choose Port Dialog" for built-in MIDI driver... There may be some problems sending MIDI data to the printer port on some machines (use the modem port or if you must use the printer port, then use MIDI Manager)
- Switched to version 3.0.1 of HyperMIDI which should solve memory problems on PowerBooks and a few other Mac models.
- Slight increase in memory requirements (to 4608k).
- Improved launching by double-clicking a PushBtnBach MIDI File in the Finder (via AppleEvents).
Version 1.3
- Wow! What a lot of bug fixes:
- Fixed About box appearing underneath floating palettes on smaller screens
- Fixed error messages after MIDI File export (Bug only happended on PowerBook 540c)
- Removed close boxes of some windows that would confuse the program if those windows were closed
- Made launch behavior consistent regardless of whether it is the initial launch or a subsequent launch
- Allow graceful canceling out of Print dialogs
- Fixed most crashes that might have occured when using the "Export MIDI File" and "Play MIDI File" before anything has been composed with the program (ie. you launch the program and immediately select "Play MIDI File")
- ...any many more bugs fixed!
Version 1.2.1
- Fixed bug that displayed error message if printing was canceled and the model was visible
- Restored "Options" window opening effect
- "Options" window no longer "hangs around" if other windows or palettes are opened on top of it.
- Hopefully fixed: bug where on some machines (mainly 68030) program might quit unexpectedly on the first launch only due to the one-time auto-serialization process.
Version 1.2
- Minor bugs worked on:
- Options window sometimes crashed the program.
- Very first launch sometimes crashed after serialization occured. Although subsequent launches seemed OK.
Version 1.1.7
- Version posted around CyberSpace.
Version 1.1.6
- Added Shareware Reminder which should appear after 30 days, 60 launches, or 90 file saves (which ever comes first)
Version 1.1.5
- Quick and Dirty compile of Options window slider routines to increase speed (this will be redone due to callbacks)
- Version 1.1.4
- Converted to SuperCard 2.5
- Added "Options" screen with slider mechanism
Version 1.1.3
- Converted to HyperMIDI 3.0
- Added option to save type 0 or type 1 MIDI files
- Added preferences window
Version 1.1.2
- Added "Info" screen for display and playback of model minuet
Version 1.1.1
- Added Bach animation
- Changed icons
Version 1.1
- Converted to SuperCard 2.0
- "About Box" graphics enhanced
Version 1.0
- Created with SuperCard 1.7 and HyperMIDI 2.0
