Christopher Yavelow (English)

Christopher Yavelow is a composer, author, multimedia producer, and teacher. He received graduate degrees in composition and theory from both Boston University and Harvard University. He earned diplomas and certificates at the Franz Liszt Zene Akadémia, the Conservatoire Darius Milhaud, the Darmstadt Internationale Ferienkurse, and the Conservatoire Américain de Fontainebleau. He spent a year in Paris studying composition, harmony, and analysis with Nadia Boulanger.

As a composer, Christopher Yavelow has received more than three dozen international awards and fellowships. One of his operas, The Passion of Vincent van Gogh, was commissioned by the National Endowment for the Arts.

Professor of composition at Claremont Graduate School for five years, he also taught at the American Film Institute's AFI-Apple Center for Film and Videomakers and at Kodak's Center for Creative Imaging.

His Macworld Music and Sound Bible (IDG) received the Computer Press Association's "Best Advanced How-To Book" award in 1993. Recently, he co-authored Random House's Mastering the World of QuickTime and two book/CD-ROMs: Random House's Multimedia Power Tools and Hayden's Macintosh Virtual Playhouse.

Currently editor of A-R Editions' Computer Music and Digital Audio Book Series, his articles appear regularly in Electronic Musician, Computer Music Journal, Macworld, Macromedia User Journal, New Media, and Verbum, for most of which he has served as contributing editor.

Christopher Yavelow (Dutch)

Christopher Yavelow is componist, auteur, multimedia producer en docent. Hij behaalde titels in componeren en muziek theorie aan de Boston University én de Harvard University. Hij bezit diploma's en certificaten van de Franz Liszt Zene Akadémia, de Conservatoire Darius Milhaud, de Darmstadt Internationale Ferienkurse en de Conservatoire Américain de Fontainebleau. Gedurende één jaar studeerde hij bij Nadia Boulanger in Parijs.

Als componist heeft Christopher Yavelow tientallen internationale prijzen en beurzen ontvangen. Een van zijn operas, The Passion of Vincent van Gogh, was een opdracht van de National Endowment for the Arts (Washington, D.C.).

Gedurende vijf jaar was hij docent componeren aan de Claremont Graduate School. Bovendien doceerde hij aan het AFI-Apple Center for Film and Videomakers (American Film Institute) en aan het Kodak Center for Creative Imaging.

In 1993 ontving zijn boek Macworld Music and Sound Bible (IDG Books Worldwide) de eerste prijs in de categorie Best Advanced How-To Book van de Computer Press Association. Hij is medeauteur van het boek Mastering the World of QuickTime (Random House) en van twee boek/CD-ROMs: Multimedia Power Tools (Random House) en Macintosh Virtual Playhouse (Hayden Books).

Christopher Yavelow est compositeur, auteur et professeur, ainsi que producteur multimedia. Il obtint ses diplômes de composition et de théorie à l'université de Boston et à l'université de Harvard. Christopher Yavelow ist Komponist, Autor, Multimediaproduzent und Professor. Er promovierte in Komposition und Theorie an der Universität Boston und der Universität Harvard. Ausserdem besitzt er Diplome und Zeugnisse von der Franz Liszt Zene Akadémia, dem Conservatoire Darius Milhaud, den Internationalen Ferienkursen in Darmstadt und dem Conservatoire Américain de Fontainebleau. Ein Jahr lang studierte er Komposition, Harmonie und Analyse bei Nadia Boulanger in Paris.
