Meta Tag Manager costs $30 USD
You must be registered to:
- Update more than one file per launch. You can use Meta Tag Manager to update as many files as you like, however, until the program is registered you must quit and relaunch the software between each update
- Use Batch Add Multiple Tags (in other words, the batch processing options). In an unregistered copy of Meta Tag Manger you can set up a batch process to get the feel for how it works, however, you cannot actually execute the batch process.
- Use Add/Replace More Meta Tags (the ten additional meta tags at the lower right of the Meta Tags screen). Until the program is registered, you can use this area of the screen to inspect the current files additional meta tags (click on the eye button while holding the option key down), but you cannot change the values of the additional meta tags nor can you add them to the current file. The additional meta tags are: robots, resource-type, distribution, copyright, pragma, reply-to, content-type, content-language, expires, and refresh.
- Directly edit the HTML display. This refers to unlocking the HTML field on the HTML screen for direct editing. Similarly, you cannot edit the Text screen although that is of little consequence because the Text screen is only for preview purposes unlike the HTML screen, the editing of which is also reflected in when doing an update.
- Configure righthand Preference panel. This refers to the items under the headings Environment, Operation, and Updating found on the righthand side of the Preferences panel. This means that until you register the program you must use the default settings for those particular preferences. In several cases, this removes some functionality from the software. For example, you are restricted to using the Auto sub-option for the Change Delimiters option. While this is what you will probably want in most cases, some people may require other options. Perhaps the most important impact of not being able to change the preferences on the right side of the screen is that you cannot enable the Remove unselected meta tags if present option. Enabling this option is a good way to use Meta Tag Manager to automatically remove specified meta tags from files (only those in the eight additional meta tags category: robots, resource-type, distribution, copyright, pragma, reply-to, content-type, and content-language. Note that unregisted users can specify a default browser and you can also toggle the rollover help tips by way of the Help menu.
- Load Profile and saved Site files. The final feature that is reserved for registered users is the Load Profile option of the Preferences panel. For registered users, Load Profile will load profile files that will update the lefthand side of the Preferences panel. From time to time, YAV may make new profile files available at the Meta Tag Manager web site and these are exactly the files that are loadable via this option for registered users (as well as Profile files that you save yourself). There is a similar restriction on reloading saved site files.
- Generate Tag Reports for more than three files at a time. If you select all or make a selection of more than three files in a file list, only the first three will be included in the Tag Report until you have registered.
Restrictions removed in version 2.0:
- Unregistered users can now update any file on the file list. Previous versions only allowed unergistered users to update one of the first three files.
- The file extensions menu is now extendable by unregistered users. Beta versions had this menu only extendable by registered users.
